Basha was established in the fall of 2002 and graduated its first class in the spring of 2006. The Basha community challenges students in a interactive, collaborative environment that values individual differences and provides opportunities for all students to realize their potential. Basha High was recognized by the Washington Post as the number 1 comprehensive public high school in Arizona for 2010-2011 & 2013-2014. It was also awarded the A+ designation in the spring of 2010, 2014, and again in the spring of 2018.

Description of community

The Chandler Unified School District is located in the Southeastern part of the Phoenix metropolitan area. Chandler Unified serves over 44,000 students in grades k-12 in 51 schools and encompasses 80 square miles, though not all of the City of Chandler.

Reading, language, and mathematics are at the core of students' education. The district has specific expectations for students in these three basic areas. Academic achievement is a high priority in the district as evidenced by test scores above the state and national averages. our students consistently score among the top in the state on college-entrance exams. Because of the outstanding educational programs offered, almost all the district schools have been cited for excellence by outside organizations, including the Arizona Department of Education and teh U.S. Department of Education. CUSD received an A+ rating for the 8th straight year. It also has 11 of the top 100 schools in the state.

Due to a booming city population and open enrollment laws, Chandler Unified is one of the fastest-growing districts in the state. The district has opened 30 schools since 1998 and now consists of 32 elementary, 10 junior highs, 6 high schools, and 3 alternative schools. Parent options at the elementary level include five Chandler Traditional Academies. At the secondary level, families can choose from our 6 traditional Junior Highs, Basha Accelerated Middle School, or Arizona College Prep Middle School. In addition to our 6 traditional High Schools, students can attend Chandler Online Academy, Chief Hill Learning Academy, or the Chandler Early College program at Chandler-Gilbert Community College.

A circular green and gold seal for Basha High School features a central shield with a lyre, a winged foot, and an open book, surrounded by banners reading "Benevolence," "Honor," and "Scholarship" against a white background.
